Running for Beginners usually features articles that should motivate you in your running journey. This article is more of the opposite kind, it’s a bit de-motivating unfortunate. But it’s a runner story none of the less, so I thought I should share.
Stuart Urquhart was in for a scare when he went out for a run in Helford, UK. A buzzard, a big bird which can weigh up to 1kg, attacked him and left him with three 6cm (or 2in) long gashes on his scalp!
Despite Stuart’s injuries, Stuart isn’t planning to stop running.
Let’s hope something like this never happens to any of us!

If you ever had a blister during a run, you know how painful they can be!
According to Spencer Casey, senior manager at the New York Running Company in New York City, the cause of blisters is friction. Casey recommends trading cotton socks for sweat-wicking ones, like the Nike Dri-FIT. Cotton traps moisture which causes friction which cause blisters.
Casey also suggests to put baby power on your feet before you start your run.

Minh at Digital Citizen shares an amazing Excel spreadsheet that works as a running log. The Excel running log is very user-friendly, it includes instructions and the cells with formula are locked so you can’t mess anything up. The spreadsheet is based on two runs a day.
The best thing about this Excel running log are the graphic displays of your runs.
To see screenshots of the Excel running log or find out more about it, you can visit the the Digital Citizen’s website:
